Vaginal Birth after Cesarean Section Delivery:
Who is a TOLAC or VBAC Candidate?
Many think that once a woman experiences a cesarean birth, all subsequent deliveries will need to be a cesarean section as well. Here, at Redlands Community Hospital (RCH), Doctors and the labor and delivery care team commit to assist women who have had previous cesarean births to determine what options they would like to include in their delivery plan.
Xem thêm : What’s the Buzz
Women have many reasons for seeking a non-cesarean birth. Recovery is quicker, there’s less chance of infection and some who’ve experienced a difficult previous recovery may want to avoid another cesarean section.
RCH’s labor and delivery department is able to accommodate women who have previously delivered a child through a cesarean birth with the option of proceeding with a Trial of Labor After Cesarean (TOLAC), with the goal of the labor resulting in a Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC).
At RCH, doctors discuss risk factors and the patients’ last birthing experience to plan a personalized labor, delivery and recovery process. RCH’s labor and delivery department support each patient as she and her doctor assess the risks and benefits of a TOLAC or VBAC plan.
The expertise of our labor and delivery team has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report, which named RCH among the best hospitals in the U.S. for maternity care. Our teams have also been recognized by the California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative (CMQCC) Quality and Engagement Award for its low volume of cesarean births for low-risk first-time mothers(2023).
