neutrogena vs clean and clear

As Spring is coming, my sister keep saying she needs to take care of her skin in order to be pretty for this Spring, although it’s not like she’s getting married or engaged… But then again, why not! So here are my thoughts on two recent face wash I’ve been using.

Clean & Clear Continuous Control Acne Cleanser Price: $8 Contains: 5% benzoyl peroxide medication

I have a very acne-prone skin, so I normally use face wash that specifically mentions “acne” on it. When I first used it, I did feel the product was a bit strong and that it was drying out my skin. Therefore, I do recommend to use a small amount of product, and only apply it on affected regions and not all over the face. Also, if you want to purchase another product also containing benzoyl peroxide medication, you might want to look at the percentage and not choose one that contains to high of a percentage. Many also complain products containing benzoyl peroxide medication wash out color, of your cloth for instance if you drop some product on it while washing your face, although I’ve never really encounter such problem. So once I wash my face with it, I do feel it’s fresh and there is a nice smell from it; something like a spring breeze… Overall, I think it has a great value, it can last for a while and is not really expensive. As for effectiveness, I think the product does help control acne, depending on the severeness of the situation. When I first started using it, I was breaking out like crazy and honestly, my face did not clear up due to this cleanser.

Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash – Pink grapefruit foaming scrub Price: $12 Contains: 2% of salicylic acid

I chose this product mainly because of its look and smell. It really does smells GREATTTT!!! It makes you want to go wash your face even when you’re tired and lazy. Salicylic acid is said to be smoother for the skin, drying it out less than benzoyl peroxide. As it is a scrub, the product contains microbeads which get rid of dead skin. However, even if it says on the product to use it twice a day, I still find it too rough on my skin to use it that frequently. So I recommend using it sparingly, for instance use a regular face wash (not exfoliating or scrubbing) most of the times and exfoliates with this 2-3 times a week. It really depends on your type of skin though. Overall, although I find this product to be pricier only because of its grapefruit aroma (very similar ones not part of the grapefruit collection are often $1-2 less expansive). But I still would pick this one, once again because its smell is so nice. I wouldn’t say it really helps for acne, although it is a nice scrub, don’t expect it to clear your face from pimples.

So this it! I hope it was somewhat informative for some of you who were looking for a new face wash or so. Have you ever used any of those? Did you like them? If not, which one is your favorite? Let me know of your thoughts in the comments below!
