Kintex instructions for kinesiology taping for upper back pain

For this tape application you will need three strips of tape in the shape of an I. You can either use our Kintex Classic Tape and cut the strips yourself or you can use our Kintex PreCut Tape and tear off the strips of tape accordingly. When cutting the tape, make sure that you round off the corners. This will increase the adhesion of the tape.

Preparation and application of Kintex Kinesiology Tape

To ensure better adhesion, you should first remove all oils, creams and hair from the affected area and clean it additionally with alcohol. Remove the backing paper of the first I-shaped tape at the base. Bend forward, make your back round and tape the tape strip along the spine parallel to the pain point while pulling. Note that the ends of the tape must be applied without traction and smoothed out. Do the same with the second tape as with the first and apply it on the opposite side under tension.

Then take the third I-shaped tape and tear the backing paper of the tape in the middle. Tape the strip to the pain point under maximum tension, at a 90° angle to the already attached tapes. Here you should also make sure that the ends of the tape are applied without pulling and that they are applied from the inside to the outside. This activates the adhesive and increases the adhesion.

When straightening the body, waves should now have formed on the tape. If this does not happen, repeat the application technique as described in our Kintex video.
